This magazine is called Billboard which is very popular. When a magazine is very popular it is called house style. Everyone knows the magazine called Billboard, so then they can partially cover the masthead. Here is an older Billboard magazine and on this one they don't cover the masthead because the magazine wasn't as well known then. The colour red and black is very simple and there isn't many cover lines.
However the magazine which has Taylor Swift on has a simple colour scheme but has many cover lines around her picture.

The masthead is very bold in black however they have added colour to the centre of some over the letters. They have added a blue centre to the 'a' and yellow to the centre of the letter 'd'. They have done this because it shows their colour scheme. they have also made sure that you can see the yellow part of the masthead, they have done this because it goes with the colour scheme of the front cover.

For their background of the picture they used a plain grey, brown and white background. this is in contrast of Taylor.

For their photograph of Taylor Swift they had her to look at the camera then when people look at the magazine it connects the reader and magazine because Taylor is looking at the camera which looks like she is looking at the reader. This is called direct address. Having just Taylor on the front cover shows that she is the elite person. Although it is a very pretty picture of Taylor Swift, the magazine could be mistaken for a beauty magazine. This also happens because she isn't holding an instrument like a guitar. Her pose also shows the maturity of her.Also because she isn't wearing tones of makeup except however she is wearing dark eyeliner. This then creates a triangle of focus with her eyeliner and the colour of the font of the masthead.

Her name is in the biggest letters this is because she is the main focus of the front page. It is also in white because it is a contrast with her skin tone and the plain background. The summery of who she is, is in contrast to the colour they have used in the writing of her name. They have chose yellow because that is the colour scheme of this front cover. It is also a big contrast of white. They have explained who she is, this is because some people may not know her and it also gives examples of what she has done and what she can do.

There is seven article titles that appear on the front cover. This helps attract the reader because this is then showing then what the most interesting articles are for the reader. This attracts then because they will glance at the cover and see what main interesting articles there are. Most of the article titles are in yellow. Yellow connotes happiness and youth. Also all of the cover lines are surrounding Taylor this makes her the elite person and the main focus. However there isn't much of her clothing showing and this then might make males view her a sexual object. However the females will view her as beautiful because she is not wearing much make up so the girls will look up to her and want to be like her.
